Yes, Instant Cash Flow Jobs and Reliable Part-Time Income for Job Hunters and College Students Are Abundant; Earn More Than Unemployment Compensation Without Any of the Hassle

Many ideas for cash-flow jobs follow, but first let's talk strategy. I recommend that you avoid filing for unemployment compensation entirely. Here's why, the income you receive is very low, the hassle you must go through to collect it is arduous, there's a two-week red tape delay before you are even eligible to receive unemployment compensation and it's just flat out more efficient and profitable to obtain immediate cash-flow job aka side hustle. Example, the maximum unemployment check in my state is $235/week vs. the average temporary/cash-flow job pays double or triple that per week depending how many hours you want to work. Meanwhile, you do not deplete your savings, you can pay your bills and you don't suffer from excessive stress during your job search. This means you can actually present yourself calmly and professionally to employers during job interviews, which is vital to your success because employers can sense desperation and you do not want to negotiate your new salary from a position of weakness. You want to be paid what you are worth. Thus, my recommendation to avoid unemployment compensation except as a last resort. Trust me, businesses everywhere need talent and temporary work/cash-flow jobs are abundant!
Become an Independent Consultant in an area where you have the most expertise and value/demand: If you have expertise this isn't just a good idea, it's a great idea because your income as an expert Independent Consultant will likely be far higher than many other cash flow jobs (below). Note: Expertise begins with 10 years of experience otherwise you have normal proficiency. Consultants (e.g., Remediation Project Manager/Consultant with a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute) in many fields earn big bucks because of their expertise (not mere proficiency).
Consider working as a Grill Cook, Fry Cook, Short-Order Cook, Assistant Sous Chef, Sous Chef, Assistant Chef or Pizza Cook in a local restaurant/bistro/pub/deli near you. There is such a shortage of talented cooks and chefs (all types) it's nuts. More restaurants than ever will train and coach you. Thankfully, it's gets easier and easier with time because you often have the same menu for six months at a time. There are perks include shift meals and beverages, retention raises, lucrative employment offers from other Restaurant Chefs/Kitchen Managers, traditional benefits, plenty of overtime pay is available year round, employee discount, advancement to higher earning positions or management etc. If you enjoy cooking for friends and family already, you are likely off to a great start in the culinary world. Today, you have high-quality education from some of the best Chefs on the planet on the Food Network, and YouTube Videos. So advancement opportunities are virtually unlimited. There is also tremendous camaraderie in the kitchen because the lunch and dinner rush, special events, and banquets mean tickets/orders come into the kitchen fast and furiously. After busy shifts your teammates in the kitchen will often take you for a drink or two at the local tavern or pub. Oh what fun that is! In many areas of the country it is very helpful to learn to speak Spanish.
Work as an Uber or Lyft Driver: It’s an ideal situation for a temporary cash flow/part-time job for job hunters/college students/graduate school students – Fast cash, work whatever schedule suits you, flexible daily work and you can start immediately if you have a reliable vehicle. Now, if you possess good people skills and you can maximize your earnings by being present when people need rides the most: sporting events over, concerts over, bars closing, big attractions closing time, commuting times, being close to small-medium sized airports, train stations and bus stations etc. If your vehicle is in good shape and gets decent mileage than this temporary work pays far more than unemployment does. Once you have some experience locating the local passenger hot spots for instant fares, it is not unusual for Uber/Lyft Drivers to earn $1500+ per week gross ($60K+/year). Plus, you can network and build relationships with your passengers because one of them could just be your new boss. 8v) It’s always a big plus (think bigger tips), if you can keep a cooler filled with cold bottled water for your thirsty clients (especially if you’re working during the summer or after the bars/nightclubs close). You can buy the bottled water at wholesale prices by the case at Costco, Sam’s Club or Walmart.
Virtual employment, Telecommuting Jobs or Working Remotely: Formerly known as work from home opportunities (that phrase is history because online scammers used it for decades to lure and then persuade them to fork over their hard-earned dough), this is a gigantic legitimate opportunity for all unemployed/underemployed or part-time professionals nationwide. Employers love it because it saves them big bucks on facilities, heating and air conditioning, furniture, PC workstations, payroll taxes and coffee/refreshments. Last time I checked, it’s so popular today that Googling “Virtual Employment Opportunities” yielded 4.3 million results and Googling “Virtual Employment” gave me 117 million results.
Virtual, Remote or Telecommuting Work is work that is completed from home or anywhere with a PC and Internet connection. This includes working as a Virtual Assistant (Administrative Assistant), Technical Support/PC Troubleshooter, doing data entry, writing/typing, editing, coaching, consulting, assembly work, coding, website development, website design, graphic design, tutoring, translating, interpreting, social media marketing, public relations, online marketing, life coaching, fitness coaching, weight-loss coaching etc. Obviously, Skype for Business is big help for many of these services.
Community Manager (online remote), Community Moderator (online remote), Social Media Threat Analyst (remote),
Social Media Security Specialist/Analyst (remote) are remote jobs for popular social media/online video websites. Social media websites from LinkedIn (Microsoft subsidiary), YouTube, Rumble, Stock Twits to Facebook/Meta, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) all need to have Community Managers, Moderators (proactive Editors who on the website who remove negative, repulsive, or illegal/unethical content to ensure the website remains popular, neutral and user friendly), and vigilant employees focused on Security. Depending on the employer, experience requirements, and education, I have seen Community Manager job postings that offer salaries from $60,000 to $100,000+ per year. Yes, these are fully remote jobs with benefits.
Attention all Artists/Graphic Artists/Adobe Photoshop & Creative Cloud Artists, did you know there is a high demand for Video Content Creators/Video Editors for YouTube Influencers/YouTube Video Creators/Experts/Educators and Stock Video Creators? As a freelancer/independent Video Content Creator, Videographer, Video Editor or Stock Video Creator you will probably have all the work you could ever need by announcing your availability and talent in these areas (Craigslist Ads). The good news is that today's modern smartphones have advanced digital camera that can record videos built right in. If you need a full 8K Professional Video Camera you can rent one by the day at a camera shop near you.
Hotels, Motels, Casinos, Airports and Hospitals are open days, evenings, weekends and holidays, thus Hotels/Hospitals normally offer many great opportunities to cash in on evening and weekend employment including administrative work, Accounts Payable/ Receivable, Room Service Server, Concierge, Front Desk Clerk, Food Server/ Banquet Food Server, Valet Parker, Fine-Dining Waiter in popular restaurant, Bartender/Wine Server at wine bar, Security Guard, Sous Chef, Fry Cook, Salad & Desert Cook, Food Expediter, Shift Manager, Host/Hostess, Reservation Agent, Special Event Coordinator, Guest Services Manager, Sky Captains, Porters, Bell Hops, Short-Order Cooks, Blackjack Dealers, Poker Dealers, Casino Security, Special Even Security etc.
Retail Stores need: Sales Clerks, Sales Specialists, Fine Jewelry Sales Consultants, Furniture Sales Staff, Shelf Stockers, Customer Service Agents, Cashiers, Shift Managers, Department Managers, Delivery Drivers, Assemblers, Technicians etc.
Pizza Delivery/Restaurant Delivery/Door Dash: Domino’s, Papa John’s and all your local favorite pizza, Chinese/Japanese, Italian and BBQ restaurants offer delivery service. You are normally compensated at least three ways – Your hourly wage, a delivery fee charged on each order and tips from customers. Grub Hub is a delivery service that picks up, verifies orders are complete and delivers food from hundreds of local restaurants. This service is very popular because it gives consumers dining choices that were previously never available for local delivery. Trust me, there are tons of single people who prefer not to cook or visit restaurants alone. These services have and will continue to employ hundreds of thousands of people annually.
Artist, Painter, Sculptor or Music Teacher: Create, Market and Sell Art using proven websites like Craigslist.org (art for sale), Yessy.com (a popular online marketplace for artists) and eBay.com (Online Auction and Buy Now Marketing to consumers). The great thing about becoming a professional Artist is you will get better and better at what you do if you will just stick with it. There are also countless mediums you can work in and experiment with while you are making money and improving. I have seen stunning modern mobiles made from discarded cans that sold for $99 each. The materials were from a recycling bin, so the Artist’s time and talent was the only real expense (2 hours labor using common hand tools). That’s a healthy $50 per hour right there. Music Teachers average about $20-40 per session nationwide depending on location and private lessons are very popular with young musicians because it accelerates their learning curve with noticeable results.
Become an ESL Teacher (telecommute via video conferencing) to students in China, Japan, Spain, Mexico etc. English as a Second Language Teaching (ESL) certifications are widely available online. In addition to a fee for administrative services earning an ESL Teacher’s Certificate involves some study and passing an exam. Obviously, these positions are only for Native American/UK English Speakers because these schools/students are all paying to learn from a native speaker. The great thing about this job is that there are many opportunities to live abroad and see the world as an ESL Teacher. Another bonus is that you can benefit from living with a host family abroad and learning their language as well. Frankly, there’s no better way to become fluent in a second or third language than to become immersed in their country and culture. Only 8% of all professionals in the US are bilingual/multilingual (English and another major language).
Freelancer.com, Upwork.com, Remote.com, Guru.com, Craigslist.org and PeoplePerHour.com are all freelance websites where you can pick up “gigs”/short assignments/part-time work quickly. You will want to stick with areas where your skills are the strongest because each of these services has hundreds to thousands of freelancers looking for work and everyone’s performance is rated on a five-star system. This keeps people motivated to produce quality work and likewise, every business/professional that hires freelance talent pays for it in escrow so they will not take the work and disappear without paying. Let's say you were already a great Writer & Editor, and have experience working for nonprofit organizations. Wouldn't working as a Freelance Grant Writer, Donor Development Specialist, or Corporate Donor Development Specialist be great ways to capitalize on your existing skills?
Odd Jobs and Miscellaneous services: TaskRabbit.com is a very popular service with busy professionals/executives and senior citizens. Many of the credentialed Task Rabbits that do chores ranging from housework and painting to shopping and household repairs are starving college students or professionals seeking reliable part-time income. Some people literally make their living as professional shoppers.
Account Manager, Area Account Manager, Regional Account Manager, Major Accounts Manager, National Accounts Manager - These are typically inside sales jobs where you solve problems for and strengthen relationships with existing clients, especially B2B clients. Unlike a B2B Sales Executive, an Account Manager normally serves B2B accounts with strong growth potential, encourages growth of said accounts by strengthening relationships, and providing additional solutions via cross-selling, as well as calling on subsidiaries with a great referral from a Procurement Manager at HQ (Account Manages want to penetrate existing accounts by cross-selling, sell to subsidiaries, and grow primary account). Because you are selling for a known provider to existing clients, solving their challenges, and then selling to subsidiaries via internal referral, this is a lower stress position vs. B2B Outside Sales positions such as Territory Sales Manager.
Photography: WeGoLook.com Photography Verification and Inspection Service is a great resource for instant part-time cash. Alternatively, you can use your digital camera to create stock photos and then market and sell those online using the services of a Stock Photography Website. Buying HQ digital photos online is a huge business because so many businesses need photographs for websites, presentations, publicity, marketing and advertising purposes. If you want to stay independent you can advertise your photography services on Craigslist.org under services offered – Portraits, Boudoir, Wedding, Sports, Real Estate, Special Event, Nature, Gardening, Underwater, Aerial (using drones), freelance general photography etc.
Work as a Valet Parker who earns an hourly wage and tips while serving patrons of busy restaurants, entertainment venues and nightclubs. If you live in or near a major city, most downtown areas have a scarcity of free parking since office buildings often have 50-150 floors and most free parking is only on street level. Thus, there's a constant need for Parking Lot Attendants and Valet Parkers for many of the restaurants, night clubs and hotels downtown and in popular entertainment districts. It's not uncommon for Valets to earn over $100/per night in tips every Friday - Sunday and on holidays, after all you have their car keys, and they want them back.
Become a Tutor, Coach or Consultant in a field where you already have expertise. All sorts of Colleges, Universities, Language Learning Centers, Test Preparation Services and Trade Schools hire Tutors for subjects like English, Math, Science and Medical related tutoring. People gifted with musical talent and ability often give students private lessons for $40 per hour. Three students per day on weekends at $40/hour each means you can earn an extra $240 per week working just two days per week.
Work as a Farm Hand, Ranch Hand, Fruit/Vegetable Picker or Weeder: Working on a farm is good honest work, it gets you out in the sunshine, keeps you active and you can enjoy the fresh air. It's a major upgrade over being trapped behind a desk all day. Also, because it's active work with plenty of labor involved it keeps you slim and trim. Farms and ranches all over the US need help and you can often bring home the freshest produce, milk and eggs around without going to the grocery store.
Work as a Taxi or Limousine Driver; FedEx, UPS, USPS or Amazon.com Delivery Driver or work for a local-courier service that delivers urgent VIP packages. With Uber and Lyft, you must use your own vehicle, so you will need to budget for essential vehicle maintenance, wear and tear and plenty of fuel. When you drive for a traditional employer like a taxi service, limousine service, FedEx, UPS, USPS or Amazon normally they will provide a vehicle to you and cover the commercial liability and comprehensive insurance along with maintenance and fuel. This is a big plus in my book.
Rent Out Spare Bedrooms/Finished Basement: If you are a homeowner or you have a lease that allows you to sublet a room/rent a room out in your existing home and you don’t mind a roommate, renting out a spare/guest room is a great idea for positive cash flow. Craigslist.org is probably the most popular way to advertise online since it is widely known and free for everyone. You can advertise under Roommates for regular monthly rent, or you can advertise under short-term lodging to give visiting professionals who travel an affordable alternative to a hotel. AirBnB.com made this niche well-known and popular across the globe since you save significantly vs. hotels. If you are going this route, it might be wise to put good locks on some of your household doors, so everyone feels safe and to thwart would-be theives.
Mr. Fix It/Handy Man/Repair Professional/Restoration Professional: You can offer your services as an apprentice handy man/repair specialist to a veteran Handy Man because there are many jobs that can be completed much faster with two people vs. one. Because you are working for a business that is already established, you will have no marketing, advertising or vehicle/travel expenses. There are many types of specialty repair/restoration businesses including Furniture, Auto and Household Repairs.
Special Event/Sports/Concert Vendor/Event/Portrait Photographer – Those people who sell Beer, Soda/Water, Popcorn, Hotdogs, Peanuts, Souvenirs and Ice Cream at sporting events, concerts, special events etc. actually make decent money thanks to tips. It’s not uncommon for vendors to receive a $1 or $2 tip for each round of beers they deliver because patrons are thankful they do not have to miss more of the game waiting in line at the concession stands. Event photographers are employees with photography skills and their own camera equipment who offer official photographs of friends and family at a sporting event, museum or concert. Customers pay for the photos on the spot and retrieve them online after the event is over knowing that these photos will be better than any they take because pro photographers have serious skills and commercial grade equipment.
Become a Truck Driver/Tractor Trailer Truck Driver/Box Truck Driver/Route Sales Rep/Merchandiser: There is a serious nationwide shortage of truck drivers, especially for larger trucking, transportation, delivery and logistic companies that use tractor trailers. The good news is you do not need a commercial truck driver's license to drive 10', 16' & 20' Box Trucks (Ryder & Penske rent these). These trucks are only 10, 16 or 20 feet long and they are commonly used by many businesses for short-medium haul deliveries. Thus, if you have a good driving record you can be employed instantly. Many of the larger companies will pay you to go through their Truck Driver Training Program and give you a sign on bonus for completing training. After that you are an employee (W-2), so they pay all the expenses including fuel, maintenance and commercial insurance. This is a great way to start out in the business, once you have more experience you will find out who the best employers are in the business by word of mouth, you can move up into management and you can also double your annual earnings be becoming an owner operator/business owner. Note: there are plenty of local Truck Driver positions nationwide where you can still have plenty of family time.
Work for a local courier or hot-shot delivery service like One Hour Delivery or Speedy Couriers: You will need a good driving record, a reliable vehicle, full vehicle insurance (not just liability), Google Maps app (or similar), and a positive attitude. If you have an SUV or truck, you can earn more as a hot-shot delivery driver because clients often want larger items (e.g., a new La-Z-Boy Recliner) picked up in a covered vehicle or truck. They pay extra for this privilege, so you are paid more. It's common to complete six-ten deliveries per day in this business, the list of required qualifications isn't too long, and you can start working promptly after you are hired. Note: You always want to be respectful, enthusiastic and polite to the Dispatcher, even when they goof up. Being reliable, flexible, and efficient is essential.
Become a Beta Software Tester or User Experience Specialist (UX Specialist) for a business software, industry specific applications, educational software, ERP systems or a Gaming company. Most business professionals already have plenty of business software experience as a user and many people under the age of 50 have tried or enjoy Gaming as entertainment. Well, it turns out that the Software Developers focus almost exclusively on coding vs. identifying bugs from the user's perspective. Further, omissions are easy to overlook when you are focused on coding and meeting milestones/deadlines. Thus, when beta versions of software/games are released all these software, app and gaming companies need Software Testers/User Experience Analysts to identify the bugs, improve performance, and add in missing features to enhance the user experience or overall functionality. Many professionals start part-time and go on to make careers in this profession and advance into management because experienced Software Testers are very valuable to employers. After all, what software or gaming company out there can afford to ignore customer satisfaction or repeat licensing/purchase opportunities?
Bail Bond Agency Employment: These establishments are open 24 hours-7 days a week and in exchange for some type of collateral (e.g., a real estate title) their clients receive enough bail to be released from jail until a court decision is rendered in criminal court. The bail is put up so that a suspected criminal doesn't miss their court date and flee the country to escape justice. They need Customer Service Representatives, Administrative Assistants/Processors, Office Managers, Branch Managers, Underwriters, Skip-Tracers, Managers and Bail Bond Agents (those who retrieve and apprehend criminals who missed their court dates and fled). You can work nights in a Bail Bond office while you are searching for your #1 most desired job and earn $15-$20/hour plus overtime on Sundays while you are in a job search. However, the criminal justice field is also a safe and secure career choice that's normally immune from layoffs.
Window Washer, Window Tint Sales, Window Tint Installer, Pressure Washer - With only a modest amount of equipment and a van (to carry your ladders, telescoping window squeegee handles, pails for window cleaning solution etc.) you can start your own business in a high-demand field. Property Managers/GMs/Business Owners want to hire reliable Window Washers to keep their offices/ facility's windows sparkling clean, so just like your friendly neighborhood Pool Cleaner, most Window Washers find it fairly easy to start and grow a regular clientele. Once they like you, you can recommend that they install window tinting because they will likely enjoy numerous long-term benefits. You can start out by servicing one and two story buildings (easy), and then as your skills improve you can move up to cleaning windows on 3-150 floor buildings (employers pay $50-$60/hour for window cleaning for 3-150 floor office buildings and residential buildings). But, self-employed Window Washers have low overhead, so cleaning windows for larger/taller buildings is not necessary to build a loyal clientele. Some Window Washers also replace any kind of light bulb, batteries in smoke detectors, HVAC system air filters, clean dust off ceiling fans, and remove dust from steel ceiling support beams and vacuum-up unsightly dust from HVAC ducts, as well as sell/install window tint. There are plenty of income opportunities in this niche.
Voice-Over Talent, On-Air Talent, Voice Talent for Commercials, Product Spokesperson, Audio Book Narrator, TV Series or Movie/Documentary Extra (non speaking Actors for background scenes) - Yes, if you have a pleasing, soothing, distinctive, or deep voice, you could put your voice talent to work and earn healthy wages. Depending on your location, you might have to join a union. Audio books are now hotter than ever before because everyone has a smartphone and can listen to educational/entertaining audio books during their daily commutes. Yes, Audio Book Narrators make darn good money and there is plenty of work available because Authors know they can sell 50-100% more books if they offer an audio version of their book. There are hundreds of thousands of audio books available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and elsewhere on the WWW. That's proof positive that Audio Book Narrators are in demand. If I can work as an Extra for a popular TV series filmed in TX anyone can and $250 per day comes in handy when you are laid-off or unemployed.
Security Guard/Armed Security Guard/Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Safety Officer/TSA Inspector:
Everywhere there is an airport, the TSA will be glad to provide you with steady employment and often the option to earn overtime pay since airports are open 24-7, 365 days a year. You will start with paid training on security, safety and being a trained observer. After that you can earn $15/hour or more depending on experience with steady raises, promotion opportunities, the opportunity to advance into management and federal government benefits including thrift savings for retirement. This may not be the most exciting job in the world, but you are part of the team that shields our airports from terrorist attacks, so it's very fulfilling and satisfying work. It's very helpful if you are bilingual or multilingual of course. Security Guards, Armed Security Guards, Bodyguards and Nightclub Bouncer jobs are also ideal choices for instant cash flow jobs because banks, casinos, nightclubs, gentlemen's clubs, concert arenas, sports stadiums/arenas and armed cash delivery services like Brinks are always hiring since people often advance to Police Officer or other professional careers once they graduate college.
Learn to use modern tax preparation software and sign on with HR Block or a similar company to provide consumers with Federal & State Income Tax Filing Assistance. Most tax preparation companies will train you and certify you for free if you sign up to work for them of course. Business during tax filing season is very brisk and you can enjoy working in a nice air- conditioned office too. Tax season starts every January and runs through the end of May, so may professionals benefit from this extra seasonal income either full or part-time. Why not you?
Brand Ambassador/Product Demonstrator/Hostess for Homebuilder's model homes - Manufacturers pay Brand Ambassadors/ Product Demonstrators to engage consumers at grocery stores, Costco, health food stores and department stores to demonstrate how good their products work, wine tastes or how good their food products taste at stores like Whole Foods/Costco during peak shopping hours Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. It's good steady part-time employment because these niche marketing companies will keep you busy. Requirements vary from employer to employer, but they generally want you to have great communication and demonstration skills, want you to be reliable, friendly, outgoing and make a good first impression. There are companies that specialize in direct to consumer product demonstration as a powerful marketing tool and small, medium and large product manufactures will hire them for marketing assignments including Vitamix (HQ blenders), Juice Man Juicers, Cuisinart (counter top toaster/broiler/convection ovens with air fryer), Robert Mondavi (fine wine), DiJourno (frozen pizza), Tropicana (Tropicana Pure Premium Orange Juice), Nathan's Hot Dogs, Hillshire Farms (sausage, cheese), Five Hour Energy (rejuvenating energy drink), GNC (Vitamins) etc. Pay ranges from $18/hour - $25/hour depending on experience, requirements & location. Most Homebuilders want a Host/Hostess in addition to a Realtor at their Model Homes to set up appointments, answer routine questions, answer the phone and help with security.
Mystery Shopper/Undercover Mystery Shopper - Virtually every retail store, department store, restaurant, electronics store, furniture store, casino/resort/hotel, credit unions, banks, wine shops, liquor stores, clothing stores etc. uses undercover shoppers who test the skills of sales and customer service staff at many types of retail establishments including Neiman Marcus. The secret shopper visits a place of business and goes through the same process any normal customer would to observe, listen, test and report on the skills of the sales professionals, front desk clerks, servers, customer service staff and Managers on duty. Once they are done, they go home and write up a comprehensive mystery shopper report on their experience and send it to the employer. Normally, employees who receive 100% or A+ grades on their secret shopper report are rewarded and those that need room for improvement are counseled by their Supervisors so it will not happen again. If you love shopping or dining out in nice restaurants you will love this part-time job that pays from $10-$20/hour and some employers offer generous discounts too.
Notary Public/Mobile Notary Public - Each states sets a standard fee/s for Notary Public to witness signatures on important paperwork, contracts or legal documents. However, a Mobile Notary Public offers their travel time to and from a client's office/
home at their discretion (typically about $25/hour), so a typical business visit might yield 1 hour of total travel/waiting time at $25 plus $10 each for three signatures and Notary stamps = $55 for one hour of work. Residential visits typically yield less averaging 30 minutes of travel time at $25/hour and $10 for a signature and Notary stamp = $22.50. But, when you can do three or four of these Mobile Notary Public engagements per day 5-6 days per week that's a great part time job because two business and two residential visits per day would add up to $155 per day x 5 days per week = $775 per week. Additionally, if you are reliable, friendly and arrive on time local law offices might engage you on a regular basis.
Street Musician/Street Performer/Entertainer/Street Installation Art (for tourists to take photos with) - If you've ever visited New York City you have seen these talented people dazzle crowds in the subway stations, Grand Central Station, Times Square or wherever tourists line up for major tourist attractions like visiting the Statue of Liberty by boat. I have seen trumpet players, singers with harmonicas, Barbershop Quartets, singing groups of 2-5, jugglers, break dancers, tap dancers, acrobats, magicians, mimes, comedians, people dressed up in all sorts of awesome costumes like the Statue of Liberty, Cher, Elvis, popular Presidents, Santa Claus, Pilgrims, Indians, Madonna, Lady Gaga, NY Yankees & NY Mets players etc. The idea of these celebrity impersonators/costumed folks is to get tourists to take pictures with them for Facebook (for $10 tips). Since I am a Resume Writer, I have had clients who know tell me these street performers can make $150 - $250+ per day depending on crowds and weather.
Furniture Moving & Packing Gigs/Furniture Assembling/Part-Time Work for Furniture Stores Making Furniture Deliveries - Let me start by saying nearly everyone hates moving, but it's a necessity of life for many professionals/families who have to relocate for employment or just move closer to their employer to avoid excessive traffic/long commutes. The most lucrative way to do this is to rent out a Ryder/Penski/U-Haul truck (as needed if/when engaged) and move furniture with a strong friend after you are hired by consumers directly from a Craigslist.org advertisement under Services Offered. Yes, you will have to write a Craig's List classified ad and answer the phone/email. A truck might cost you $80-$100/day to rent but you can charge $275-$500 for to move a one bedroom apartment/two bedroom apartment. Remember, movers services include packing, protecting furniture (mattress pads), packing the truck to prevent damaged furniture and moving furniture. If a two bedroom apartment takes two men 10 hours x $35/hour each that equals $350 each. The cost of the truck and gas is just passed on to the consumers as a set fee earned at arrival. Moving a one bedroom apartment might only take 4-5 hours at $35/hour each but even a small job like that is good for $175 each and you could do two of those every Saturday and Sunday. Likewise Furniture Assemblers visit homes/apartments to assemble furniture that is flat packed and requires assembly from stores like Ikea, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes, department stores etc. Furniture Assemblers often visit furniture stores to get referrals from Sales Associates, often place Craigslist.org ads for $12-$15/hour + tips and often are very busy.
Private Wine Merchant/Wine Tasting Coordinator/Fine Wine Wholesale Rep - You can work for a local wine distributor, wine merchant, wine bar, large retail wine specialty store or work as freelance (1099 Contractor). It's a requirement to have knowledge of fine wine because you will be pouring, presenting and informing guests about each wine served. You will use a soft sell approach because only wine lovers attend wine tastings/private wine tastings in private home parties and you will let the guests know the price of a half case/full case of each wine/specialty liquor presented. Each guest rates each bottle of wine on their personal score card and takes notes. The host serves a wonderful dinner/lunch with several courses to impress their guests and earns a special gift for hosting the wine tasting event. At the conclusion of the wine tasting the Private Wine Merchant takes orders for cases of fine wine from small to medium vineyards in France, Italy, US, Australia etc. Sometimes specialty extra virgin olive oils, balsamic vinegar or truffles/truffle extract are also presented, sampled and sold. Wine Merchants typically earn a set fee for their time and efforts and/or a commission on all the cases of wine sold, so generally these events are held at wine shops, restaurants with private dining rooms, wine cafes or private homes. You could be employed by the wine cafe, fine dining restaurants (someone has to fill the seats with dinner guests on slow Tuesday nights right? Why not you?), fine hotel restaurants, fine wine stores or wholesale wine distributors. When I did this many years ago in the 1980s, I earned about $250 per event and did 3-4 events or private wine tastings per week. These events combine nicely with presentations to investors that want to learn more about investing for income, investing in real estate/commercial real estate, investing in annuities as a hedge against stock market risk, cooking lessons by great local Chefs, Foodie events, holiday parties, special events etc.
Expeditor/Auto Transporter/Priority Freight Mover/Boat Transporter/Livestock Transporter - This job requires a truck/extended bed truck/heavy duty truck/van that is appropriate for the load you are hired to move. Here you want to advertise or bid on appropriate loads/cargo for the truck/van you own/rent. There are specialized smartphone apps/websites where you can big on jobs/gigs, calculate your total costs add in margin (your compensation) and bid for jobs. If you are selected to do the job you normally start work immediately or per instructions. Expeditors can make $250-$350 per day because you own the right equipment to do the job and are willing to do the job (see many YouTube videos for more info on Rush Deliveries/Hot Shot Deliveries/Expeditor Jobs.
Dog Walker, Pet Sitter, Dog Groomer - In any city with more than 40,000 people, it's relatively easy to find dog owners that want dog walking, pet sitting or dog grooming help. Dog walkers can earn $50/week for walking one dog or $75/week for walking two dogs five days per week. If you have five regular clients with two dogs or 8 clients with 1 dog that's $375 or $400 per week and of course you can walk up to 4-5 dogs simultaneously on a regular neighborhood route. Word of mouth referrals are a big help. Pet Sitters watch, feed and walk people's pets (dogs, cats, fish, turtles etc.) while they are on vacation for a set fee. If they require any type of medication they administer that as well. If you have 16 clients (easy) you can earn $800/
week with a little more effort. How did I get to $ 800/week? In four hours, you will have four dogs walked x four times per day = 16 clients). The key is to establish a regular route and always be walking with 4+ dogs simultaneously.
House Sitter/Pet Watcher/Horse & Livestock Caretaker - Everybody takes vacations including home owners, estate owners, farm and ranch owner/operators etc. Taking care of homes, properties, horses, gardens and livestock while they are gone is a wonderful service because it allows the homeowners/property owners to take a vacation without worries. Besides free rent for the vacation duration, you are often paid a per day fee of $50-$150 depending on the type of home/property/farm/ranch and duties involved. This is all negotiable and once you have done a great job for clients once it might become an annual gig. If a typical house and pet sitting engagement pays you $300/week for two weeks (part-time) and you do two of these per month on average, that's an extra $1000-$1200 per month.
eBay Seller/Facebook Marketplace Seller/Craigslist.org Seller - Drive through the better residential neighborhoods on weekend mornings and trash/recycle pickup mornings to identify and pick up unwanted good furniture, computers, electronics, kitchen appliances, and home decor items (free) that you can fix up and sell/or just sell for a profit. Advertise to buy used goods, products, tools, kitchen gadgets, appliances, furniture, cars/trucks, art, collectables, antiques, paintings, TVs, smartphones and electronics on the Internet. Buy them for cash on the spot from consumers. Clean them up/repair them to improve their value, take great photos and advertise them online with detailed descriptions, specs, model numbers and measurements at a profit. Sell these products to people that need them in person or ship products out promptly once consumer is paid in full. Resellers often make $500-$1200 per week part-time selling popular items online with a PC/laptop, smartphone (with good camera), decent typing skills and Internet connection. I have met college students who do this part-time, and they have paid their annual college tuition, books and living expenses for four years by doing this, so it's as real as it gets.
Social Media Marketing Assistant/Social Media Marketing Coordinator/Social Media Influencer/Email Marketing Specialist/Google Maps & AdWords Marketing Manager/Consultant - Why not use your familiarity with Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, email marketing, Google Maps and AdWords etc. for a new part-time or full-time cash flow job/career? So many small-medium sized businesses can benefit from social media marketing help, but so few of them have the experience, knowledge, patience or skills to execute on a social media marketing campaign. That's where you come in. Advertising on Craigslist.org is a low cost way to acquire clients and you can bill clients on a re-occurring monthly basis at $250/month for the first year and $300/month after that. Four clients per month = $1000/month. Then add, 2-3 clients per month from there. If you do this full-time you can easily grow revenues during your first six months to $3,000-$4,000 per month.
Mobile Paintless Dent Repair/Mobile Dent Repair/Mobile Paint Repair/Paintless Dent Repair Sales/Business Development Manager - If you own a nice car or truck, nothing is more annoying that those 1, 2 or 3 dents that diminish your vehicle's appearance. With a modest investment in modern paintless dent repair tools and techniques you can have a business up and running in no time. One of my clients started his paintless dent repair business on a shoestring and grew it to over $500,000 in revenues over a two-year period. He even bought his own garage to work out of in cash and hired two employees. Business is very good in the paintless dent repair business or mobile dent repair business, especially where hail storms are common.
Mobile Auto Detailing/Mobile Auto Washing, Waxing & Detailing - Every professional/entrepreneur/guy picking up a date appreciates a vehicle that's clean inside and out and many people with good incomes are willing to pay for that service. Sales professionals, Managers, executives, Doctors, Attorneys, Uber/Lyft Drivers, Couriers, Business Development Specialists, neat freaks, germaphobes and anyone dating or entertaining clients especially want to keep their vehicles clean. Limo companies and bus companies will also be great repeat clients. You can start your own business with a modest outlay in equipment and cleaning, waxing and detailing products. There are plenty of YouTube.com videos by experts on how to detail, clean and wax your vehicle like a professional. What it boils down to is you have to be ready, willing and able to do the work. If you are, you can easily earn $150-$200 cash per day with 2-3 jobs or $750-$1,200 per week just by advertising to local clients on Craigslist.org with classified ads. Note: It's harder to do this during the frigid winter months, so consider this a spring, summer & fall job if you live in an area that is known for long frigid winters (you can always buy a snowplow and plow driveways for extra cash in winter).
Snow Plowing, Landscaping, Lawn Moving, Tree Trimming, Leaf Removal, Tree Cutting & Removal - These jobs require some skills, but if you're inexperienced you can always learn while working for someone else part-time to learn these valuable skills. Once you have experience, you can advertise and earn as a freelancer/self-employed individual, which is more profitable. It would probably be a great idea to invest in some quality equipment and business insurance to cover any liabilities from accidents or injuries. You can purchase a used snowplow off season at a discount vs. new ($1000) and then fit it to any full-sized 4x4 truck. After that, you will find regular demand for your services from residential and commercial clients. You will have consistent income from weekly/bi-weekly jobs and word of mouth referrals because plenty of people are too busy, lazy or tired to do this themselves.
FDA Clinical Drug/Biotech Therapy Trials - Have you ever seen an ad like this: Attention Type II Diabetics, Get Paid $6500 with free medical exams and blood tests (A1-C, Fasting Glucose, PRC etc.) for participating in an FDA clinical trial for a breakthrough diabetes treatment over a six-week period. Visit our medical offices twice per week from 8 am - 7 pm M-F for six weeks. Good news, a Google search will identify more of these opportunities near you. Every day, there are hundreds if not thousands of clinical trials going on at hospitals/medical centers near you. It just so happens that one of my unemployed clients told me he had diabetes during an interview, he still had a family of five to support and complained of the high cost of insulin and diabetes meds. The next day, I saw an advertisement in the Epoch Times (a great newspaper with terrific investigative journalism) for volunteers in a diabetes drug trial that paid $6895 for 6-8 weeks of participation. The best part about being a volunteer for these trials is you receive state-of-the-art medical care and diagnostic testing for free, in addition to the medication. After, the trial is complete you receive the check, so it's a win-win for volunteers, Doctors, and drug companies. Whatever your health issue is, just do a Google search like this: Clinical Trials for Weight Loss Drug near me or Clinical Trials for Diabetes drugs near me, then investigate the search results. 8v) Some of these clinical trials are very lucrative and the extra funds sure do help when you are unemployed.
Work as an Apartment Locator - Check your state's licensing requirements, most states require a Real Estate Agent's license but not all states do. Regardless, Apartment Locators provide a valuable service to busy professionals, parents, entrepreneurs, new residents who are unfamiliar with the area, and executives. This is especially true where there is a shortage of affordable housing in areas like Dallas Fort Worth Texas. Apartment Locators are paid on commission like Realtors, but those commission do add up quickly because everyone needs housing. Further, working as an Apartment Locator is a great steppingstone to a real estate sales career.
Airport Shuttle Van Driver, Hotel-to-Airport Courtesy Van Driver, Parking Lot-to-Airport Shuttle Van Driver, Airport Express Van Driver (to and from airport) - These 8-12 passenger vans operate anywhere there are busy airports, multiple airports, larger hotels, big tourist attractions, visitor/convention centers, popular museums, popular amusement parks, and major tourist destinations. Unlike traditional cabs, Uber Drivers or Lyft Drivers, 6-12 passengers can share the cost of going to the airport, so the cost per passenger is far more affordable. These cash-flow jobs are normally W-2 employment, so the employer pays for the vehicle, vehicle maintenance, fuel, tolls, commercial insurance etc. vs. with 1099 independent contractor jobs like driving for Lyft and Uber where these expenses can put a dent in your wallet.
Sprinkler System Repair Technician/Irrigation System Technician -- Depending on your preference, you can be self-employed or work for an employer as a Sprinkler System Repair Technician. If you are self-employed, you will be able to make a profit on all the sprinkler heads you replace and you will have plenty of tax deductions like mileage when traveling for work. Either way, there is no doubt that every spring, summer and fall, Sprinkler System Repair Technicians are in demand and 2-4 week waits are not uncommon in peak season (spring), especially in areas that have long, hot summers. This type of work can be easily be combined with landscape design, landscape maintenance, working for a local nursery, architectural lighting, installing Christmas lights/lawn displays, artificial turf installation projects, selling Christmas trees, snow plowing, snow blowing, and shoveling, etc.
Do you want to be winning from the beginning in your job search? Do you want to improve your earnings and advance your career? If yes, you will want to hire Darrell DiZoglio, Certified Professional Resume Writer (CPRW)/Executive Resume Writer at http://RighteousResumes.com today. That's what winners do.
By Darrell DiZoglio, CPRW of http://RighteousResumes.com Copyright 2020-2025 All Rights Reserved. This article is updated regularly an effort to assist all the underemployed/unemployed professionals.
